U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
Information from the SEC and links to SEC filings through EDGAR for no fee.

Good site for financial information, news, links.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
Very good website with a great deal of information and reports on bank compliance, banking statistics, asset information and a banking and FDIC library.

National Trade Data Bank
The National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) is the U.S. Government's most comprehensive source of international trade data and export promotion information. Types of information on the NTDB include: International Market Research, Export Opportunities; Indices of foreign and domestic companies; how-to market guides; Reports on demographic, political, and socio-economic conditions for hundreds of countries; and much more.

United States International Trade Commission
The USITC is an independent, quasi-judicial federal agency that provides objective trade expertise to both the legislative and executive branches of government, determines the impact of imports on U.S. industries, and directs actions against certain unfair trade practices, such as patent, trademark, and copyright infringement. USITC analysts and economists investigate and publish reports on U.S. industries and the global trends that affect them. The agency also updates and publishes the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, available through the WWW.

FinanceNet Web Site
The Internet's home for public financial management worldwide. It was established by Vice President Gore's National Performance Review in Washington, D.C. in 1994 and is operated by the National Science Foundation (a Federal agency) under sponsorship of the U.S. Chief Financial Officers Council. FinanceNet reaches across geopolitical boundaries to link financial management administrators, educators and taxpayers worldwide to catalyze continuous improvements in the productivity of government personnel and in the stewardship and accountability for taxpayer resources.

Website features an FAQ about PBGC guaranteed benefits, PBGC publications and technical material including regulations, interest rate charts and Technical Updates.

Quite a good site featuring SBA information, news and technical date, SBA property for sale, software and links to other business and governmental resources.

The military's logistics and supplies support center.

National Technology Transfer Center
NTTC, established by Congress, is the hub of a national network linking U.S. companies with federal laboratories to turn government research results into practical, commercially-relevant technology. The center's free Gateway Service, staffed by specialists in biology, physics, chemistry, computer sciences, and various branches of engineering, provides private sector callers with person-to-person contacts in the federal laboratory system.

This site has been recently shut down due to a high publicity hacking event. If it returns, it contains very helpful political, economic and demographic information about every country in the world.

Large volume of demographic and statistical documents available online- or by ordering through the web site.

U.S. Census Information
Gopher site at Rice University providing a substantial collection of Census and other demographic information.

U.S. Department of Commerce
Fairly bland server with information about the DoC, but little substance other than links to other government and private web sites.

U.S. General Services Administration
The government's business management department. Information about buying from and selling to the government.

Consumer Information Center
Full-text editions of a number of the Pueblo, CO based agencies publications, along with indexes and order forms for the rest of their material.

U.S. Information Agency
Agency charged with promoting the U.S. in foreign lands. Website includes policies and regulations on international exchange and other matters.

The Alternative Fuels Data Center
The Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), the nation's most comprehensive source for information on alternative fuels. The AFDC collects operating information from vehicles running on alternative fuels, analyzes those data, and makes them available to the public. The AFDC also maintains information on research reports conducted for both the Biofuels Systems Division and the Fuel Utilization Data and Analysis Division of the DOE Office of Alternative Fuels.

National Biological Survey, Southeastern Biological Science Center
WWW site for the Florida and Caribbean Science Center's. The resource information available here comes in a variety of forms, including text, photos, statistical databases and Geographic Information System (GIS) digital maps. Resources are from many sources, including local, State and Federal government agencies, academic institutions, and community groups.

National Estuary Program
Subset of the EPA page focusing on estuary and wetland issues.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
NOAA data includes the latest GOES images of the U.S., the latest weather maps for the U.S., pictures of Hurricane Emily hitting the Outer Banks, studies of solar terrestrial physics, information on marine biology from the National Marine Fisheries Service, sea surface temperatures from Coast Watch images, weather in space, and many other things.
