I've broken down general business references into two categories. The first focuses on sites that focus on providing lists of links - I call them gateways - to business resources of all kinds. The second category focuses on specific reference tools such as the Thomas Register online, census and other statistics, and commercial data-gathering services.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
A hypertext edition of US Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook, 1994-95
edition. Claitor is a reseller of GPO publications.
Gallup
Pollster's website includes current published polls, monthly newsletter focusing on
international current events, internet survey, et.al.
Brainwave
Brainwave is a commercial outfit offering fee-based access to a variety of resources, with
value-added compilation services. Brainwave offers everything from TRW credit reports, to
company profiles, to scientific and technical information, to trademarks and patents, and
to newspapers. Their information comes from a variety of resources, some readily available
(like newspapers, ABI/Inform, etc.), others not so available.
Medaccess
A public interest resource for healthcare information, includes a hospital and physician
locator databases, searchable by name, specialist, type of hospital, city, state, zip
code, etc.
Bilingual online
dictionaries
A large collection of bilingual dictionaries and links to a wide variety of other
dictionaries, e.g., slang, computer jargon, etc. Comes from Denmark, I've had trouble
making the links work regularly.
Central Intelligence Agency
US CIA World Factbook
This site has been recently shut down due to a high publicity hacking event. If it
returns, it contains very helpful political, economic and demographic information about
every country in the world.
DJSA Bulletin Boards
Commercial Who's Who for the web.
The Electronic Embassy
D.C. based information base for linking "the staffs and resources of the Washington
D.C. embassy community to their constituencies in business and industry, education, the
press and government." Contains address and phone info for all foreign embassies in
D.C.
Consumer Information Center
Full-text editions of a number of the Pueblo, CO based agencies publications, along with
indexes and order forms for the rest of their material.
Tradepub
Internet subscription service for professional trade publications. It has free
publications and online publications as well as access to paid publications.
List of newspapers
Straightforward directory of newspapers, large and small, from around the country, indexed
by state, then title. Includes address and telephone numbers.

Census and demographic information from the University of California, Berkeley
Census Bureau
Large volume of demographic and statistical documents available online- or by ordering
through the web site.
'Net Review of Business Books
Web site has one of the best selections of business books and reviews on the Internet.
Naturally we gravitate towards books directly related to helping you do business on the
Internet, but we also review books in all areas of commerce including, marketing, finance,
management, investments, etc. Reviews are on-line and there is a connection to
www.amazon.com, the Internet's favorite bookstore, to arrange purchase of the book.
